I’m 28 years-old. I’m from Paris, France. My first exposure to Asian cinema was in 2001, when Gordon Chan’s Fist of Legend was released in French theaters. My mind was blown and I started worshipping Jet Li, yet I did not start truly delving into Asian films outside of Jet’s filmography until 2010 when John Woo’s Red Cliff and Daniel Lee’s Three Kingdoms: Resurrection of the Dragon tipped me over into a thankfully never-ending spiral of Hong Kong and Chinese cinema. And in late 2011 Asian Film Strike was born.
Notice that it is Asian Film Strike, not Chinese Film Strike. Yes, the great majority of reviews and interviews on this blog are about Chinese and Hong Kong cinema, but over time I hope to start reviewing Korean, Taiwanese and Thai films more often. For now, I do not have the level of knowledge required to talk about films from South Korea, Taiwan or Thailand without wasting everybody’s time. As for Japan, Vietnam and others, maybe in another life.

Blowback short film
/ October 5, 2016Hi there. You have a great site here, please keep up the great work. We’ve just released a short film online called Blowback, an action short inspired in part the great Asian action films of the 80’s and early 90’s. We were wondering if you might have an interest in watching it, and if so, letting us know what you think about it. Thank you for your time and consideration.

/ March 19, 2017I just manage to found this blog, I love your reviews. They’re pretty awesome, I have to say! I’m going read to read more of your reviews as time passes.
I feel like I found a goldmine because I’m a bit of a Francophile so I found the best of both worlds.

/ March 19, 2017Thank you so much for your kind words. I have started diving into your blog as well, I love that you review a lot of forgotten films. I started like that actually, thinking ” who needs another Infernal Affairs review?”, and focusing on hidden gems and lesser-known films.
Thank you again!

/ March 20, 2017Thanks, there was a period of time, I was watching lot of old French movies specifically the so called French New Wave/ or in French : La Nouvelle Vague. I may review those films someday. But, they’re interesting to watch, apparently, the French New Wave a big influence on many Hong Kong directors.
